Gorontalo, (ANTARA GORONTALO) - Gorontalo Governor Rusli Habibie said he hopes President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) could inaugurate the groundbreaking of the Bulango Ulu dam as a national strategic project in the regency of Bone Bolango early next year.
In addition to inaugurating the dam project, the plan to invite the President to Gorontalo is to commission a coal fired power plant PLTU Anggrek, which has a capacity of 2x25 megawatts in the regency of Gorontalo Utara, and irrigation network in Randangan, in the regency of Pohuwato.
"We just discuss acceleration of the construction of the National Strategic Project of Bulango dam of which the analysis of environmental impact (Amdal) is delayed on rejection of the local people," Rusli said here on Monday.
He said if the rejection continued how could the government`s program could be carried out for the advancement of the region.
He said the rejection might be on lack of socialization of the program. The higher institution that is in charge of the project, should coordinate with district administration in planning and carrying out the project as the project is located in the district area.
"It is useless we have lobbied the central government for the budget and when the budget is approved and provided, there is not enough socialization that the local rejected the project," he said.
He said the government guarantees compensation for the land used for the dam project, therefore, an assessment team should start calculate the compensation.
"In principle, the project is for the welfare of the local people as whole," he said.
