Gorontalo, (ANTARA GORONTALO) - Construction of the steam powered electricity plant PLTU Anggrek in Gorontalo Utara District, is to be completed by the end of 2017.

The power plant is expected to be able to supply 25 megawatts to the interconnection of Gorontalo - North Sulawesi, before the end of 2017.

"Barring any obstacles, in December, 2017, one unit of its power generators should be operational with a capacity of 25 MW," manager of Gorontalo branch of the state electricity company PLN Nayusrizal said, when reporting to acting Gorontalo Governor Zudan Arif Fakrulloih about possible shortage in power supply in the province.

Nayusrizal said the regional administration including regencies and city administrations all agree to speed up development of power generating facilities in the province.

He said this year, PLN of Gorontalo needs the support of the regional and district administrations in its plan to build more electrical relay stations such as in the city of Gorontalo and in the Boalemo District.

The support from regional and district administrations could be in the form of location license, he said.

Acting Gorontalo Governor Zudan Arif Fakrulloh said the provincial administration would continue to back up PLN in its efforts to increase power supply in the region.

"I will continue to back up PLN that its program in this region could be completed as scheduled. I hope we could continue to good coordination to solve any problem," he added.
